About This Course

This course will examine the key tax changes contained in the Taxation (Annual Rates, Emergency Response, and Remedial Measures) Bill. The Bill introduces new tax initiatives and includes numerous remedial changes to both the Income Tax Act 2007 and the Goods and Services Tax Act 1985.

The course will consider changes to the tax rules in relation to:

  • Natural disaster tax relief provisions
  • Cryptocurrency reporting requirements
  • The transfer of overseas pensions

In addition, key remedial changes to GST and income tax rules will be covered. Included in the GST remedials are changes affecting:

  • The change of use rules
  • Input claims on secondhand goods acquired from associated persons
  • The flat-rate tax credit for unregistered persons supplying accommodation through online platforms

Included in the income tax remedials are changes impacting:

  • Bright-line test and other land taxing provisions
  • Trusts
  • Limited Partnerships
