In this course, the student will learn about business succession planning. Specifically, the course outlines the 5 "D"s of succession planning (death, disability, divorce, dementia, and dissolution), identifies special considerations for different types of business and ownership structures and different types of industries, discusses several potential exit strategy options, and outlines the different documents that should be used in a complete business succession plan. The purpose of this course is to help financial professionals recognize the importance of business succession planning and empower them to guide their clients, in conjunction with a qualified attorney, towards completing their business succession plan, whether they be a small startup company or a large company with high revenues and multiple owners.
